Thunderstorms bring 5-hour outage in 10 Pampanga areas
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO—Thunderstorms on Thursday night, Oct. 3, tripped five main power lines in Pampanga province, causing a power outage in 10 towns and cities that lasted for up to five hours.
The power interruption hit Magalang, Porac, Sta. Rita, Arayat, Sta. Ana, Masantol, San Luis, San Simon, Sto. Tomas towns and this capital city for almost five hours, according to the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.
Power returned between 9 and 10 p.m. the same day.
The city of Angeles also suffered an outage attributed by the National Grid Corp. of the Phils to lightning and heavy rains that tripped several lines.
An electric pole fell and caused a bottleneck on the northbound lane of North Luzon Expressway.
Torrential rains also uprooted trees in Porac town and triggered flash floods along the San Fernando portions of the MacArthur Highway, local disaster officials said. Tonette Orejas/TSB
