Hailstorm hits South Cotabato town

KORONADAL CITY –– Balls of ice accompanied strong winds and a downpour Thursday afternoon, Oct. 3, in Surallah, South Cotabato.

Surallah Mayor Antonio Bendita said the town weather on Thursday afternoon turned from being sunny to stormy.

The rain was preceded by strong winds that toppled large trees along the national highway, Bendita said.

Fallen trees hit some houses. A huge tree also hit a poultry house, killing several chickens.

Hailstones fell on two villages, Bendita said over the radio.

Two years ago, Surallah also experienced a hailstorm.
