LRT-2 services to remain suspended Friday, Oct. 4

MANILA, Philippines — The operations of the Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT-2) will remain suspended on Friday due to “several technical and safety concerns.”

In a Twitter post on Thursday night, Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) spokesperson Hernando Cabrera said the train line could not yet resume full nor partial operations as per its engineering and safety units.

“Based on latest report from LRTA engineering & safety units, LRT2 will no longer be able to resume full or partial line operations today & tomorrow, 04 Oct 2019,” Cabrera wrote.

“Several technical and safety concerns prevent resumption of any passenger operations,” he added.

LRT-2 passengers are advised to find alternative modes of transportation for the meantime.

Operations of the train line were suspended on Thursday a power rectifier tripped and caught fire in between Santolan and Katipunan stations.
