BREAKING: No resumption of LRT-2 ops on Thursday

MANILA, Philippines — The LRT-2 operations will not yet resume on Thursday after a fire occurred at two rectifier substations of the line.

Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) Administrator Reynaldo Berroya explained that its engineering and maintenance team is still doing safety inspections on the condition of the remaining rectifier substations at the line.

Furthermore, Berroya also ordered for an immediate investigation into look into the cause of the fire.

“Our primary concern now is to determine the extent of the damage so as to ascertain the integrity, stability, and safety of LRTA structures and facilities,” Berroya said in a statement.

Berroya ensured that all efforts will be exhausted “for a possible implementation of degraded operations from Anonas or Cubao to Recto and vice versa” on Friday./jpv
