Albayalde dares Magalong: Show proof, photo that I bought SUV in 2013

MANILA, Philippines — Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Oscar Albayalde challenged Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong to show proof that the former purchased a new sports utility vehicle (SUV) after the 2013 controversial anti-drug operation.

“I ask again. Please show me a proof, even a picture, these are all allegations,” Albayalde told ABS-CBN News Channel on Wednesday when asked about Magalong’s allegation that the PNP chief was among those who bought units of SUV following the 2013 drug bust.

“When you talk of something you have to show proof,” he added.

In a Senate hearing on Tuesday, Magalong alleged Albayalde was among those who bought new units of  SUVs after a buy-bust operation in November 2013.

Magalong, former chief of the PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), questioned  the police operation conducted in November 2013 in Pampanga during the time of then Pampanga  police  director Albayalde, noting  the  discrepancy in the declared amount of seized shabu, among others.

On former PNP chief Alan Purisima’s order,  the CIDG led by Magalong conducted its own probe and discovered that the seized shabu was 200 kilograms, and not  38 kilograms earlier declared by the raiding team. /jpv
