DILG to verify LGUs’ road clearing accomplishment
MANILA, Philippines — As the Department of the Interior and Local Government’s (DILG) 60-day deadline for road clearing operations nationwide ended on Sunday, it’s on to the next phase: checking the compliance of local government units (LGUs), including Metro Manila mayors.
“Noncompliance starts today,” Interior Undersecretary for Barangay Affairs Martin Diño told reporters on Monday.
Local DILG officials have until Friday to check whether major roads and Mabuhay Lanes in the metropolis have been cleared of all obstructions. —Nikka G. Valenzuela
