2 men injured in Manila City Jail riot die in hospital

MANILA, Philippines — Two of the men injured in a riot at the Manila City Jail on Sunday died shortly after the incident, according to Chief Insp. Xavier Solda, spokesperson of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP).

The two men died at Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center due to hypovolemic shock, which caused by severe blood or fluid loss.

They were two of the 34 individuals who sustained injuries when a riot broke out between the members of Batang City Jail and Sputnik Gang detained inside the jail.

Solda said Jail Director Allan Iral had ordered an investigation of the incident.
