Teenager shot, wounded in Agusan del Sur

MANILA, Philippines—A teenager was wounded after being shot by still unidentified assailant at the height of Christmas revelry in Agusan del Sur Sunday midnight, police said.

The 17-year-old victim was walking with his friends, identified as Marlon Asiga and a certain alias “Gogong,” along Purok 4 of Barangay Bucac, Bayugan City around 12:30 a.m. when the gunman armed with a short firearm allegedly confronted the victim’s the victim and his friends, Superintend Martin Gamba, spokesman of Caraga police, said.

The suspect was hitting them with a piece of stone, prompting them to run away, Gamba said.

But he said that the group was chased by the assailant and fired at them hitting the victim in his “thoracic area of left side of his body.”

The victim was immediately taken to the New Bayugan Medical Hospital for treatment.

Bayugan City Police Station was conducting further investigation to identify the suspect, Gamba said.
