Woman nabbed in Zamboanga del Sur for illegal drugs

PAGADIAN CITY –– Police arrested a 50-year-old woman in Barangay Tawagan Norte of Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur following a drug buy-bust operation Thursday afternoon, Sept. 26.

Major Jerome Pamalaran, Labangan police chief, identified the suspect as Narisa Guloy who claims to be a farmer.

Authorities recovered four sachets containing substance believed to be shabu, but she held some bundles of cash amounting to P373,000 inside her bag.

Pamalaran said they were still determining if the cash represents proceeds of illegal drugs sale.

Guloy told the Inquirer she did not own the suspected illegal drugs recovered inside her house and challenged authorities for a drug test.

She added that the cash is what remained of the proceeds of the sale of a family-owned lot near the national highway in Barangay Dalapang, Labangan.

She said the property was sold for P2 million to pay off debts.

Pamalaran said the suspect has been under surveillance for some time, describing her as a slippery subject./lzb
