22 hurt after truck rams into bus, jeepney, motorcycle in Pampanga

MANILA, Philippines — Twenty-two people were injured after a truck slammed into a jeepney, bus and motorbike in San Fernando, Pampanga on Thursday morning.

Initial report from Col. Jean Fajardo, chief of Pampanga police, showed that a Fuso truck with a trailer was traversing the Jose Abad Santos Avenue in Barangay Dolores when the driver suddenly fell asleep.

The driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to hit the motorcycle,  passenger bus and  jeepney.

Lt. Col. Paul Gamido, chief of San Fernando, Pampanga police, said in a text message that 22 people — 21 from jeepney and one from motorcycle — were hurt in the crash. Of the 22, two are drivers.

The injured commuters were taken to the Jose B. Lingad Memorial Regional Hospital for treatment.

Gamido said the truck driver was brought to San Fernando police for further investigation.
