PDEA chief introduces ‘ninja liit, volt-in group’ in ‘agaw bato scheme’

MANILA, Philippines — Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Director General Aaron Aquino bared new groups of rogue policemen involved in drug recycling, which are “ninja liit” (mini ninja cops) and “volt-in group.”

“Paliwanag ko rin yung tinatawag na ninja cops, meron din palang ninja liit. Meron din yung volt-in group — yung grupo ng kapulisan na may iba-ibang modus,” Aquino said over dzMM on Thursday when asked about the number of active ninja cops.

(I want to explain that for some ninja cops, there are also the so-called mini ninja cops. There are also a certain volt-in group, which is a group of law enforcers with different modus.)

Aquino explained that “ninja liit” are those who recycle narcotics during small anti-drug operations.

“Kapag may maliit na operations na pinagdaanan o hindi dinaanan ng ninja cops yung mga ninja liit ang tumitira [Mini ninja cops would benefit from small police operations which are ignored by ninja cops],” the PDEA chief said.

Aquino said volt-in group are errant lawmen who usually conduct meet-ups and allegedly would commit crimes.

“Yung mga volt-in group pareho sila ng modus ng ninja cops at ng ninja liit except that itong group mga pulis na magvovolt-in sila nagkikita-kita para lang gumawa ng isang krimen. Ang puntos nito pera-pera lahat,” Aquino said.

(The volt-in group has the same modus with ninja cops and mini ninja cops except that this group are policemen that would meet up just to commit a crime. They would also focus on gaining money from recycling.)

National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) director Maj. Gen. Guillermo Elezar said they will work with PDEA in tracking down these new groups of policemen recycling confiscated illegal drugs.

“Pagtulong tulungan naming hanapin ang mga yan. [We will work together to find these rogue policemen] We will coordinate closely with PDEA and other agencies,” he said in a text message to INQUIRER.net when asked about new groups of errant lawmen introduced by PDEA. /jpv
