Albayalde admits PNP’s morale ‘somehow’ affected after ‘ninja cops’ issue

MANILA, Philippines — Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Oscar Albayalde admitted Thursday that the police force’s morale was somehow affected in the wake of the the controversial  “ninja cops” issue.

“I think kahit papaano the PNP here is affected dahil alam naman natin na majority of us are really working hard,” Albayalde told reporters after the turnover ceremony of donated motorcycles in Camp Crame, Quezon City when asked about PNP’s morale after some police officers were allegedly engaged in recycling illegal drugs.

[I think somehow the PNP here is affected because we know that majority of us are really working hard.]

Albayalde said PNP “is affected probably but it does not necessarily have low morale.“

Despite the controversies, PNP chief said the agency will continue to do its job.

“But we understand that this is all part of public service. We are workers of government and we should be able to be strong and firm in all everything that they are throwing on us,” Albayalde said in a mix of Filipino and English.  /muf
