MANILA, Philippines — The suspect in the killing of a Manila City Hall employee surrendered to authorities on Tuesday night.
Manila Police District chief Brig. Gen. Vicente Danao Jr. identified the suspect as 46-year-old Eric Capulong.
Initial investigation showed that Capulong hit his live-in partner Concepcion Beldad, 39, in the head using a hammer after a heated altercation. Beldad, whose skull was reportedly crushed, was brought to Tondo Medical Center but later died.
Police said the argument occurred after Beldad tried to break up with the suspect.
MPD Special Mayor’s Reaction Team (SMaRT) chief Maj. Rosalino Ibay and Manila Mayor Isko Moreno coordinated with Capulong’s family that led to the suspect’s surrender.
Capulong surrendered to authorities in Bacoor, Cavite at 11:20 p.m. He was later turned over to SMaRT Office and MPD Homicide. Charges are being prepared for filing against the suspect. /kga
