Magnitude 4.1 quake hits off Surigao del Sur

Magnitude 4.1 quake hits off Surigao del SurMANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 4.1 quake was recorded off Surigao del Sur on Monday afternoon, the Philippine Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.

The quake struck at 1:12 p.m., with its epicenter located 48 kilometers southeast of Cagwait town in Surigao del Sur.

The quake, of tectonic origin, had a depth of 12 kilometers.

While Phivolcs said no aftershocks were expected following the quake, a weaker magnitude 3.0 quake was recorded in Cagwait less than 30 minutes later at 1:40 p.m.

There were no immediate reports of damage or injury from the tremor.
