The Philippine Daily Inquirer bagged two major trophies at the Globe Media Excellence Awards (GMEA) in rites held Thursday night at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Cebu City.
Joey Gabieta, a correspondent of the Inquirer Visayas Bureau, won the News Report of the Year for Print while Leo Udtohan got the Breaking News of the Year for Digital.
Each of them will receive a cash prize of P35,000.
Named finalists were Nestor Burgos and Ador Vincent Mayol.
The GMEA recognizes journalists, bloggers and social media advocates in the Visayas and Mindanao who have shown excellence in their craft and have created a positive impact in the society.
