MANILA, Philippines—After a cockroach and a fly interrupted his speech, President Rodrigo Duterte was again unceremoniously pestered Thursday, this time by a loud gecko (tuko) sound at the decommissioning of arms and forces of revolutionary groups in Jamindan, Capiz.
The President was in the middle of his rants against human rights advocates for criticizing his brutal war on drugs when a loud gecko sound interrupted him.
Duterte paused and let the sticky-footed lizard blare.
In jest, he said an official might have brought a pet gecko in the venue.

“Dala-dala ka ng tuko dito?” Duterte said to an official behind him.
“Ilongga man ni (She’s an Ilongga). Ara man tong pet mo na tuko (Where is your pet gecko)? Dala-dala mo? Linte kang Jasmin ka,” he added, eliciting laughter from the crowd.
On July 30, Duterte was talking about his rift with Catholic priests during an event in Taguig City when a fly landed on his forehead.
He then shooed the fly and then joked that it was sent by the priests.
Two months before that, a cockroach landed and crawled on the shirt of Duterte during a campaign rally in Bohol.
“Liberal ‘yan. Sigurado na ‘yan, klaro sa likod,” Duterte said of the cockroach. He was referring to the opposition Liberal Party.
