23 convicts freed under GCTA surrender in Bicol

LEGAZPI CITY –– A total of 23 convicts freed through the Good Conduct Time Allowance law surrendered to authorities across Bicol.

Major Maria Luisa Calubaquib, spokesperson of the Bicol police, said among those who surrendered were convicted of rape, robbery with homicide, murder, robbery with multiple physical injuries and parricide, among others.

She said six of the surrenderers came from Sorsogon; Masbate, 5; Camarines Norte, 4; Albay, 4; and Catanduanes and Camarines Sur, two each.

One convict released last year was reported to have died, police said./lzb
