MANILA, Philippines — Tropical Depression Nimfa remains almost stationary over the Philippine Sea while its trough or extension is expected to merge with the low-pressure area last spotted in Mayantoc, Tarlac within 48 hours, the state weather bureau said Wednesday.
In its 11 a.m. weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) added that “Nimfa” was last spotted 685 kilometers east of Basco, Batanes.
“Nimfa” packs a maximum sustained wind speed of 55 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center, and gustiness of up to 70 kph.
Frequent light to moderate with occasional heavy rains will be experienced in Pangasinan, Zambales, Bataan, Occidental Mindoro, Romblon, northern portions of Palawan including Calamian and Cuyo Islands, Aklan, Antique, Iloilo and Guimaras.
Meanwhile, occasional light to moderate rains with intermittent heavy rain showers during thunderstorms will affect Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Batanes, Cagayan including Babuyan Islands, Ilocos Norte, Apayao, and the rest of Central Luzon and Mimaropa.
The rest of Luzon and Western Visayas will have scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms. /gsg
