11 dead pigs found in QC tested positive for ASF
MANILA, Philippines– Eleven dead pigs discovered in Barangay Bagong Silangan in Quezon City (QC) tested positive for African swine fever (ASF), Mayor Joy Belmonte revealed in an interview over AM radio station DZBB on Saturday.
This was the finding of the City Veterinary Department, Belmonte said.
Asked if the public should be worried, Belmonte said it was no cause for alarm as checkpoints had been set up in entryways into the city to keep contaminated pigs and pork products from getting in,
Authorities, she added, had also seized dead pigs, and inspectors were deployed in public markets to check the meats being sold.
