Drilon seeks law to give DOJ more control over BuCor
MANILA, Philippines — Senate Minority Leader Franklin Drilon agrees that the law diminishing Department of Justice’s (DOJ) control over the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) should be amended.
In an interview at AM radio station DWIZ, Drilon even urged Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra to help create a bill to amend the Bureau of Corrections Act of 2013.
Earlier, Guevarra said the law only allows DOJ to exercise “administrative supervision” over BuCor.
Drilon then vowed to work for a law that would again give the DOJ more power over BuCor.
