Driver of ex-Pangasinan governor dies after ambush

MANILA, Philippines – The driver of former Pangasinan Gov. and Rep. Amado Espino Jr. expired a day after they were ambushed.

Agapito Quizon died at around 6 p.m. Thursday at the Blessed Family Doctors General Hospital in San Carlos City after sustaining a gunshot wound to the stomach, Col. Rederico Maranan, Pangasinan police chief, told INQUIRER.net.

Espino was with Quizon and his convoy when they were waylaid by the assailants aboard two vehicles in Barangay Magtaking on Wednesday.

Maranan said that despite being wounded, Quizon still managed to rush Espino to hospital.
