Retirements prompt PNP reshuffle

MANILA, Philippines — Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Oscar Albayalde has reshuffled police officers in six key positions following the retirement of some senior PNP officials.

In a statement, PNP spokesperson, Brig Gen. Bernard Banac, on Thursday, Sept. 12, said the reshuffle of key positions was recommended by the PNP Senior Officers Placement and Promotion Board.

Albayalde has designated former Quezon City Police District (QCPD) chief Brig. Gen Joselito Esquivel Jr. as the new Regional Director of Police Regional Office 13.

Police Brig. Gen. Gilberto Cruz was moved from being Caraga Police Regional Director to Acting Director for Integrated Police Operations in Northern Luzon.

Albayalde appointed Brig. Gen. Alfred Corpus as regional police chief in Region 12. Corpus left his post as training service director.

Also moving to new positions are Brig. Gen. Omega Jireh Fidel (from deputy director of PNP Directorate for Investigation and Detective Management to director of PNP Engineering Service), Brig. Gen. Rey Lyndon Lawas (from deputy director of PNP Directorate for Operations to director of Training Service) and Col. Ronnie Montejo (from Deputy District Director for Operations of Northern Police District to Acting District Director of QCPD).
