Classes suspended in 2 Cotabato towns due to heavy rains
KIDAPAWAN CITY –– The local government of Pigcawayan, Cotabato canceled afternoon classes today in all levels, both public and private schools, due to continuous heavy rains brought by Tropical Depression “Marilyn.”
The order was issued by Pigcawayan Mayor Jean Dino Roquero upon the recommendation of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.
Roquero said they would be monitoring the situation to determine if a similar order would need to be made tomorrow.
The mayor also asked parents of pre-school and elementary pupils to fetch their children in their respective schools to ensure their safety back home.
Teachers were also advised to look into their respective classes and not allow school children to go home by themselves, especially the pre-schoolers, without someone to accompany them.
“Let us ensure the safety of our children at all times,” Mayor Roquero said.
