JBC to interview SC chief justice candidates on Oct. 2

MANILA, Philippines — Candidates for the position of Supreme Court chief justice will face Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) for an interview on Oct. 2, 2019.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the JBC said the interview would begin at 9 a.m. in the Division Hearing Room of the Supreme Court main building in Manila.


The first batch is composed of Associate Justice Diosdado M. Peralta and Associate Justice Andres Reyes Jr. Their interview will last until noon.

Associate Justice Andres C. Reyes Jr. and Associate Justice Estela Perlas-Bernabe’s interview, meanwhile, will take place from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.


Incumbent Chief Justice Lucas Bersamin will go on mandatory retirement on Oct. 18.
