P80-M ‘shabu’ found in abandoned speedboat in Zambales

MANILA, Philippines — Authorities recovered on Friday 10 kilograms of suspected “shabu” worth about P80 million in an abandoned speedboat near the shore of Magsaysay Beach Front in Barangay Lodoc in Palauig, Zambales.

The recovery was made after the Palauig Municipal Police received a telephone call from the village captain about an abandoned speedboat.

Acting on the report, joint elements of the Palauig Municipal Police, 302nd Maritime Police Station and the Philippine Coast Guard proceeded to the area. Initial investigation showed that the capsized boat without markings was floating around 300 meters away from the shoreline.

Recovered from the speedboat were five plastic bags containing two kilograms each of suspected “shabu,” and other items, including a pack of cigarettes.

Authorities also found an abandoned motorcycle around 500 meters away from the speedboat.

The illegal drugs were brought to the Zambales Provincial Crime Laboratory Office while the other items were brought to the Palauig Municipal Police Station for documentation.

An investigation was ongoing as of this posting.
