MANILA, Philippines – The Metro Line Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) will try to restore partial operations from North Avenue to Shaw Boulevard station after a power supply glitch shut down the entire line’s operation early Friday morning.

“Ang isang approach po na gagawin namin ay buhayin ‘yung North Avenue to Shaw Boulevard para at least meron tayong partial operations,” MRT-3 director for operations Engr. Michael Capati said in an interview on dzMM.

MRT-3 management earlier said the cable of the Overhead Catenary System at the Guadalupe station (northbound) in Makati City was cut off, affecting the entire railway system’s power supply distribution.

“Ang priority po natin ngayon is maibalik yung first yung partial operation natin from North Avenue to Shaw Boulevard. Hininto po natin yan kasi intermittent po yung power na nasusupply e baka po lalo magkaroon ng problem,” Capati explained.

“Ang nangyari po kasi dyan part ng Guadalupe station ay nagsusupply din po sa Shaw at saka sa Ortigas. Yun po yung ia-isolate namin ngayon para po magkaroon ng full operation muna from North Avenue to Shaw Boulevard,” he added.

Capati said repairs are already ongoing and buses have been deployed to assist affected passengers. /gsg
