Voter registration may be extended

/ 01:06 AM September 06, 2019

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) Chair Sheriff Abas said the poll body might extend the voter registration beyond the Sept. 30 deadline depending on whether the May 2020 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) polls would be postponed or not.

The Comelec opened the voter registration period on Aug. 1 despite several measures filed in Congress pushing for the postponement of the Barangay and SK polls to October 2022.

In a bid to attract more applicants, the Comelec has partnered anew with Robinsons malls for the conduct of satellite voter registration activities in all its 52 mall establishments nationwide. —TINA G. SANTOS
