MANILA, Philippines — Several lawyers took a decision-writing and essay-writing exams as a part of their bid to fill two Supreme Court posts that will be vacated by Associate Justices Francis Jardeleza and Antonio Carpio.
Both associated justices are retiring — Jardeleza on Sept. 26 and Carpio on Oct. 26.
The Judicial Bar and Council (JBC) conducted the exams on Sept 2 and 3 and will begin the public interview of applicants on Sept. 6.
The JBC is constitutionally mandated to vet aspirants to judiciary post and the top positions at the Office of the Ombudsman.
After several considerations, the list of applicants will be narrowed down and will be submitted to the President for his selection.
