Korean who finishes college with degree in Filipino earns praise from Filipinos

MANILA, Philippines—A Korean student who graduated from college with a degree in Filipino has earned the praise and admiration of Filipinos online.

In a Facebook post, Kim Jeeyoon, a Filipino major at Busan University of Foreign Studies, said she was honored that Filipinos have been expressing their felicitations on her graduation.

Nakatanggap po ako ng maraming pagbati sa aking pagtatapos. Kaya masaya po ako ngayon. Ikinararangal ko po. Maraming salamat po sa inyong lahat,” she said in Korean translated to Filipino.

Last week, University of the Philippines Prof. Jovy Peregrino also took to Facebook to congratulate Kim.

“Pagbati, Kim Jeeyoon sa iyong pagtatapos sa Busan University of Foreign Studies major sa Filipino. Ikinararangal kita. Mabuhay ka,” Peregrino said.

Giving a dose of inspiration among Filipinos, the professor’s post has already amassed 1,800 reactions and more than 800 shares.

Meanwhile, Kim’s post garnered over 700 shares and congratulatory messages from netizens.  /ra
