Cop nabbed for drugs has no chance to return to service — Albayalde
MANILA, Philippines — The policeman who was arrested in Muntinlupa for using drugs has “no chance” to be reinstated in the police force, Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Oscar Albayalde said Tuesday.
“Wala ng chance. Sobra naman kung makabalik pa ‘tong loko-loko na ito, perpetual na ito (There is no chance. It would be too much if this rogue policeman would return in police service),” Albayalde said in a press conference in PNP Headquarters in Quezon City.

Pat. Leo Valdez of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion of the National Capital Region Police Office was arrested by his fellow policemen during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Putatan, on Monday night.
Police said Valdez joined PNP in 2007 but went on Absent Without Official Leave (AWOL) status in 2014 due to his alleged illegal drug use. The rogue policeman was reinstated in 2017.
When asked why some police officers are still returning to police service, Albayalde explained that the National Police Commission (Napolcom) is assigned to reinstate some police officers.

Albayalde fumed at Valdez earlier, claiming that some of Valdez’s batchmates could be using drugs as well.
“‘Yung batch mo sigurado. Meron kang ka-batch diyan na humihithit sa safehouse niyo diyan, (I’m sure some of your batchmates are also sniffing drugs inside the safehouse)” Albayalde said while scolding at Valdez.
Valdez is now in the custody of PNP Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group (PNP-IMEG) for filing of administrative complaints. /je
