Rain, thunderstorms forecast as ‘Liwayway’ moves northwest

MANILA, Philippines — Tropical Depression “Liwayway” will bring inclement weather over  the Bicol Region, Visayas, Northern Mindanao and Caraga on Monday, the state weather bureau said.

The said regions would have cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

Residents were warned of possible flashflood and landslides due to occasional heavy rains.

As of 3 a.m., Liwayway was located at 450 kilometers east of Daet, Camarines Norte with maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of 70 kph.

Liwayway was moving northwest at a speed of 25 kph, Pagasa said.

Aside from Liwayway, the southwest monsoon would also bring cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms over Zambales, Bataan, Occidental Mindoro, and Palawan.

Possible flashflood and landslides caused by at times heavy rains could occur.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country, meanwhile, will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers but only due to localized thunderstorms.

Temperature for Monday ranges from 24.1 °C and 33.9 °C. Sunrise was recorded at 5:44 a.m. while sunset is expected at 6:08 p.m.
