Suspect in slay of Subic woman dead in Pampanga shootout

SUBIC, Zambales –– Police in Pampanga on Thursday killed the suspect in the brutal slaying of a woman here during a reported shootout.

Investigators said Samuel Feralta engaged lawmen in a gunfight while he was being arrested at Barangay Camachilles in Mabalacat town.

Witnesses tagged Feralta as the one behind the killing of Carmela Catindig, 30, a factory worker, who was found with 38 stab wounds inside her house here on Aug. 20.

Catindig was naked and could have been raped before she was killed, investigators said.

Police said Feralta resisted arrest and fired at the lawmen that led to an exchange of gunfire.

Feralta was also tagged in several robbery incidents in some establishments in Angeles City, Olongapo City, and Zambales province.

Police recovered the suspect’s .38-caliber revolver and motorcycle after the operation./lzb
