2 Chinese nationals nabbed for drunk driving, resisting arrest
MANILA, Philippines – Police arrested two unruly Chinese nationals early Monday morning after speeding past a checkpoint in Binondo, Manila.
Manila Police District (MPD) Station 11 officers arrested Cai Fang Bin and Man-Man Chen along C.M. Recto Avenue corner Sanchez Street at around 2:20 am.
MPD Station 11 commander Police Lt. Col. Noel Aliño said that Cai, the driver, was apparently drunk, while Chen resisted arrest and disrespected responding police officers.
“Mabilis po magpatakbo at paso na ang registration ng sasakyan niya. Wala rin po siyang drivers license at under influence pa po ng alak (They were speeding, their vehicle registration is expired and the driver did not have a valid license and was intoxicated),” Aliño said.
“To the rescue naman po ‘yung isa at nambubully pa po sa aming mga pulis. Inaresto po namin para malaman nila na bawal na po ang pasaway at hindi sumusunod sa batas sa Maynila (The driver’s companion tried to bully his way around so we also arrested him to send a message that lawbreakers in Manila will be arrested),” Aliño added.
Cai will be charged with violation of traffic rules in relation to Section 56 of Republic Act 4136 while Chen will be charged with violation of Article 151 of the Revised Penal Code, or resistance and disobedience to a person in authority or the agents of such person, as well as interfering with police duties.
