A general services staff placed the signs in a restroom, as shown in photos by the Quezon City Public Affairs’ Twitter account.

The move was in accordance with City Ordinance 2357-2014, also known as the Quezon City Gender-Fair Ordinance.

According to Section 5, affirmative acts (D) of the ordinance, it requires “government agencies, private offices, and commercial and industrial establishments to designate all-gender toilet rooms.”

Mayor Joy Belmonte previously reminded businesses to strictly comply with the Gender-Fair Ordinance after a transgender woman was barred from entering the female’s restroom in a mall in Cubao.
