Ilocos Norte slide kills girl, injures 2 kids

LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte — A 17-year-old girl was killed in a Saturday morning (Aug. 24) landslide that buried two houses and injured two boys in the Ilocos Norte town of Pasuquin.

The remains of Pauleen Joy Corpuz were recovered at 9 a.m., six hours after the landslide struck at 3 a.m. in Barangay Surong.

First responders took 9-year-old John Lloyd Trumpo and 11-year-old Princess Shalane Trumpo to a hospital for treatment.

They also evacuated 5-year-old Joel Baysa, Jose Baysa, 28, Elsa Baysa, 23, Myla Baysa, 29, and Rolen Trumpo to safer ground.
