MANILA, Philippines — Just hours after his arrest, former Foreign Affairs Secretary Perfecto Yasay Jr. was rushed to the nearest hospital in Manila on Thursday afternoon.
Manila Police District (MPD) chief Brig. Gen. Vicente Danao Jr. confirmed to INQUIRER.net in a Viber message that Yasay was brought to the Manila Doctors Hospital after experiencing “chest pain.”
Yasay will stay at the hospital overnight while police escorts are assigned to accompany him, Danao noted.
Yasay was taken under police custody after law enforcers served his arrest warrant for allegedly violating various banking laws.
The arrest warrant was issued by Judge Danilo Leyva, Presiding Judge of Regional Trial Court Branch 10 in the City of Manila.
