MANILA, Philippines – Two drug suspects reportedly working for a detained big-time drug dealer were killed in a drug buy-bust operation which led to the recovery of P6.8 million worth of shabu (crystal meth) in Pasig City Thursday morning.
The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) identified the casualties as Jalal Salamoden and Sampuano Rason.
Operatives from the NCRPO’s Regional Drug Enforcement Unit, Pasig City police and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency – National Capital Regional Office conducted the buy-bust operation along Felix Avenue corner Kabayanihan Street, Barangay Dela Paz at around 2 a.m.
After the transaction, one of the suspects reportedly fired at an undercover police officer, triggering a brief shootout.
Salamoden and Rason were killed on the spot.
One kilo of shabu, marked peso bills, two guns, ammunition and a motorcycle were recovered from the slain suspects.
NCRPO chief Maj. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar, Salamoden and Rason are alleged members of the drug syndicate led by Amim Imam Boratong, who is detained in National Bilibid Prison (NBP).
Boratong, who was tagged in the so-called Pasig shabu tiangge case, was arrested in 2006. /gsg
