People in Christmas rush to provincial bus terminals

MANILA, Philippines — People are rushing to bus terminals this Thursday, hoping to get to their homes in the provinces in time for Christmas.

At the Araneta bus terminal in Cubao, Quezon City three days before Christmas, men and women with children, and carrying boxes and bags of Christmas goodies, wait in line to board buses bound South of Luzon, and even to the Visayas islands via Roll-On-Roll-off ferries.

Bus terminal operations officer Roland Tagle said security has been beefed up to ensure the safety of the passengers.

Tagle said they have deployed a total of 30 security guards, twice the deployment of 15 on regular days.
