Construction exec survives Cotabato City ambush

COTABATO CITY –– An executive of a construction company was injured when ambushed on a busy street here Monday morning, August 19.

Captain Rustom Pastolero, chief of Police Station 2, identified the victim as Engr. Apollo Algas, 49, vice president of Compact Construction Company, and a resident of Rosary Heights 11.

Pastolero said Algas was heading for office around 9 a.m. aboard his pick-up truck when two motorcycle-riding men overtook his vehicle along De Mazenod Avenue, Barangay Rosary Heights 4.

Moments later, one of the men pulled a pistol and opened fire, and sped away.
