Anti-corruption agency probes ‘at least 200’ gov’t officials
MANILA, Philippines — The Presidential Anti-CorruptionCommission (PACC) revealed Wednesday that it has been conducting a lifestyle check to at least 200 government officials due to alleged corruption.
PACC Commissioner Greco Belgica said the officials were from the Department of Transportation (DOTr), Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), and Bureau of Customs (BOC).
“My estimate is at least 200,” Belgica said in a press briefing in Malacañang.
“DOTr. The whole department has asked to be investigated voluntarily,” he added. “We will start with the higher officials.”
He said they would finish the lifestyle check this 2019.
PACC earlier said its lifestyle check on government officials would not spare even the friends of President Rodrigo Duterte. /kga
