The Manila police on Thursday warned that a serial robber-rapist preying on women dentists may be on the loose after three more victims from Quezon City came forward and reported that they might have been victimized by the same man who robbed and raped one of their colleagues in her clinic in Paco, Manila, last week.

Investigators of the Manila Police District Women’s and Children’s Protection Desk (MPD-WCPD) who are conducting the probe of the Paco case said they had started coordinating with the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) for the man’s identification and arrest.

MPD-WCPD head Chief Inspector Anita Araullo told the Inquirer that the same modus operandi was used in all of the cases—the man first posed as a patient and after he received treatment, he tied up the victims and then sexually abused the dentist who had attended to him.

She added, however, that it was only in the Paco case where the victim was raped.

Based on the testimonies of the three other dentists, their clinics in Quezon City, which were located at Tandang Sora, Sangandaan and Project 3, were robbed separately by a man last month.

The first robbery took place on May 14, followed by another one on the 17th. The last case happened on May 31.

The victims said that after the man ransacked their clinics, he masturbated in front of them.

According to the police, similar cases were reported in Marikina and Antipolo in March.

Meanwhile, Araullo reminded dentists to take the necessary precautions to protect themselves against robbers, including hiring a security guard or installing a closed circuit television camera in their clinics.

The MPD recently released an artist sketch of the robber-rapist in the Paco case. The perpetrator, who was armed with a handgun, knife and tear gas canister, was described as between 30 and 35 years old, about 5’ 6” tall, of medium build and with dark skin.

When he went to the dental clinic in Paco last week, he wrote down his name as Alvin Maliwat on the patient’s record sheet and said he was a resident of the area.
