MANILA, Philippines — Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra on Monday said he will leave it to the police to identify the person behind the death of a Chinese national who fell from a building in Las Piñas last Friday.

The 27-year old Chinese national identified as Yang Kang, an information technology employee,  fell to his death from a building in Pamplona, Las Piñas. His hands were in handcuffs.

“We’ll let the PNP do the investigation as this is principally a police matter,” Guevarra said.

He said once the suspects are identified, and they turn out to be foreigners, only then will he alert the Bureau of Immigration.

Initial reports say that Yang was handcuffed by his supervisor, also a Chinese national. Yang allegedly wanted to resign but he owed the supervisor money after he paid for his plane fare to the Philippines. /je
