TAGBILARAN, Bohol –– The tablets seized from the son of the Tagbilaran City administrator were confirmed to be dangerous drugs.
Lawyer Rennan Augustus Oliva, chief of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in Bohol, said four of the seven tablets seized from Eric John Borja during a buy-bust operation tested positive for illegal drugs.
The laboratory examination conducted by the NBI Forensic Chemistry Section in Cebu City on Sunday stated that two pieces of pink tablets and a broken pink tablet were positive of brolamfetamine (DOB), a dangerous drug.
On the other hand, two pieces of broken blue tablets were positive for 3,4-Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDM), commonly known as ecstasy.
Oliva said both DOB and MDM are relatively psychedelic substances which reportedly produces feelings of increased energy and euphoria, and distortions in sensory and time perception.
The NBI and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Bohol arrested Borja, the son of Tagbilaran City administrator Eddie Borja inside a room in a Tagbilaran hotel on Saturday night, Aug. 10.
Oliva said the party drugs, including ecstasy tablets, are sold in events like concerts, discos and parties. But, he said, the supply is not as abundant as shabu, since party drugs are expensive.
“One pill is reportedly worth around P1,500 to P3,000,” he said.
Oliva said it is also a challenge to apprehend suppliers since party drug dealers do not deal with strangers for fear they might be undercover anti-narcotics agents.
The NBI is conducting an investigation to find out Borja’s supplier. /lzb
