LOOK: PNP gets new guns, vehicles worth P784-M
MANILA, Philippines – To enhance its firepower and operational capabilities, the Philippine National Police (PNP) has purchased new vehicles, guns and equipment worth P784 million.
The new equipment which were presented in Camp Crame, include 95 vehicles, 10,000 Canik 9mm pistols; 78 Negev light machine guns; 3,684 enhanced combat helmets; 2,255 tactical vests and 568,226 rounds of 9mm ammunition.
The budget for the new items was taken from the PNP’s Capability Enhancement Program of 2014 to 2019 and from the General Appropriations Act 2018.
PNP chief Gen. Oscar Albayalde said the newly-bought PNP items will help boost police visibility and operations in the communities.
“These mobility assets will go a long way in helping increase police visibility in different localities in the like of our efforts towards further reducing crimes and ensuring safe and peaceful communities,” Albayalde said in his speech during the blessing and presentation of new equipment in Camp Crame on Thursday.
Albayalde said the items will be distributed to municipal and city police stations, regional public safety battalions, provincial public safety companies and national support units. /muf
