LIST: Hong Kong flights canceled on August 6 due to protests
MANILA, Philippines – Several flights to and from Hong Kong were canceled on Tuesday due to the ongoing protests in the special administrative region of China.
The Manila International Airport Authority (Miaa) announced on Tuesday the cancelation of the following flights:
CX 912 Manila – Hong Kong
CX 976 Manila – Hong Kong
CX 939 Hong Kong – Manila
On Monday, several airlines likewise canceled flights due to the worsening unrest in Hong Kong.
Protest actions in the region started two months ago in calling to withdraw an extradition bill that will send residents facing charges to mainland China to stand trial.
The protesters’ major demands include the release of arrested demonstrators, an independent investigation into alleged police abuse and the dissolution of the current legislature, which is only partially composed of lawmakers who were directly elected.
Filipinos in Hong Kong have been advised against wearing black or white shirts as they might be mistaken as participants of the ongoing protest.
A Filipino working as a dancer at Hong Kong Disneyland has been detained in a Hong Kong police station after he was arrested for allegedly participating in an ongoing protest there. /gsg
