MANILA, Philippines — The water level in Angat Dam continues to go up on Saturday in view of heavy rains being experienced in most parts of the country, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.
In its 6 a.m. bulletin, the water level slightly went up to 167.17 meters, which is a 1.15 meter-increase compared to 166.02 meters recorded on Friday morning.
Angat Dam is the main source of water being distributed in Metro Manila.
Meanwhile, the water level in the La Mesa Dam also went up slightly to 74.65 meters compared to 74.48 meters reported on Friday.
Water levels in other dams such as Ipo, Ambuklao, Binga, San Roque and Pantabangan have also went up, Pagasa said.
However, both Magat and Caliraya dams have experienced a decrease in water level.
Some parts of Luzon have been experiencing rains brought about by the southwest monsoon. Pagasa said that it is also monitoring a low-pressure area, which could develop to tropical depression “Hanna.” /jpv
