LPA over east of Catanduanes may become tropical depression–Pagasa

LPA off Catanduanes may become tropical depression

MANILA, Philippines — A low pressure area (LPA) off Catanduanes may likely turn into a tropical depression within 24 to 36 hours, state weather bureau said on Saturday.

In its weather advisory, Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the LPA will be named “Hanna” if it strengthened to become a tropical depression.

Pagasa said the LPA was last spotted at 875 kilometers east of Virac, Catanduanes as of 10 a.m.

Pagasa also noted that monsoon rains would be experienced over Metro Manila, Pangasinan, Zambales, Bataan, Rizal, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro , Antique, Guimaras and Northern portion of Negros Occidental.

Cloudy skies and thunderstorms may be experienced over the rest of Luzon and Visayas. /jpv
