BREAKING: Palace halts work in gov’t, classes in Metro Manila due to monsoon rains
MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang has announced the suspension of work in government offices and classes in all levels, public and private, in Metro Manila effective 3:00 p.m. Friday due to inclement weather brought about by the southwest monsoon.
By the authority of President Rodrigo Duterte, Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea signed Memorandum Circular No. 63, declaring the discontinuance of work and classes in the National Capital Region as recommended by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).
However, agencies involved in the delivery of basic and health services, preparedness or response to disaster and calamities, and/or the performance of other vital services must continue their operations, according to the memo.
Meanwhile, suspension of work for private companies, offices, and schools is left to the discretion of their respective heads, Malacañang said. /kga
