Singapore accepts scholarship applications

THE Singapore Embassy is accepting applications for the Singapore scholarship for academic year 2012-2013.

The scholarship is awarded by the Singapore government.

This undergraduate scholarship is tenable for three to four years of tertiary study at the National University of Singapore, the Nanyang Technological University and the Singapore Management University.

Except for medicine, dentistry, architecture and law, all other disciplines are open to recipients of the scholarship.

The scholarship covers return airfare, full tuition, a living allowance of S$4,300 (P142,000) per annum and an accommodation.

Scholars are selected on the basis of academic merit, leadership qualities and their potential to contribute to the Philippines’ development. They are expected to return to contribute to their home countries upon graduation.

Applicants must be Filipino citizens with excellent academic records and a good command of English.

A recipient of the scholarship may not hold any other scholarship, fellowship, grant or award without prior approval of the Singapore government. Applicants must be in first year or second year college or graduating high school students.

Shortlisted nominees will take the entrance examinations set by the Singapore universities. Nominees will further be shortlisted based on the examination results and will undergo an interview conducted by interviewers from the Singapore universities.

Scholarship application forms may be downloaded from website https://www.mfa.gov.sg/scp. Filled-up application forms should be submitted to the Singapore Embassy in Manila on Dec. 23.
