SCSIT Skyblazers gain share of lead in CBA

The reigning champions Akira-Salazar Colleges of Science and Institute of Technology (SCSIT) Skyblazers gained a share of the lead in the standings after they demolished the ThreeSixty Pharmacy, 111-94, in the Cebu Basketball Association-M. Lhuillier Kwarta Padala Mayor’s Cup basketball tournament late Monday night at the Cebu Coliseum.

The champs once again leaned on the offensive brilliance of reigning MVP Mark Abadia to hack out the convincing win that put their record at 2-0 (win-loss), the same as the Ave Maria Sanctuary and Park.

Abadia, a stalwart of the MLKP-Cebu Niños and a former standout of the Adamson Falcons, helped his high school alma mater get the win by notching 33 points.

Big man and former pro Mark Andaya paced ThreeSixty with 24 points as they fell to 0-2.

After much hype before the tournament with talks of several La Salle Green Archers coming over to play for ThreeSixty, it all remained such as Mark Jayven Tallo and Jarelan Tampus were not given the green light to play by the school.

Another  triple-header will be held today at the same venue.  SCSIT and Ave Maria will try to keep their lofty perches as they take on different opponents. Akira will battle the  Southwestern University in the opening game while Ave Maria faces Rollway Customs Brokerage in the last game at 6 p.m.

Winless teams Asian College of Technology Cyber Knights and ThreeSixty Pharmacy face off at 4 p.m.
